[It was time for activation. He could have summoned a storm, blow off their attackers, potentially capsize the enemy ship, but that was too reckless. Such a thing could just as easily capsize their own. No, instead he used a different tactic, a more direct and ruthless one. It wasn't all that dissimilar to a spell he knew from home, which made it comforting to him. He could visualize it and direct it. Such a spell thus was more realized and potent because of that ability.]
Of the celestial heavens I call upon thee, Starlight Rain!
[Though what he shouted was the end of the spell from his home world, it none the less helped activate the knew one. The sky turned bright over the enemy ship, this spell only had a 20 yard radius, however when you considered that was 40 yards across and the attack was pure magical energy it was rather impressive.
Immediately after the sky turned bright what looked like a downpour of twinkling colourful lights began. If someone looked at them closer they would see that the "rain" was not a simple drop but was the shape of a fast moving butterfly. Each butterfly was pure mana and sliced through all it touched. Unless there was an impressive magical barrier it simply shredded everything in it's path. Of course, part of their own ship was caught in this, but only the very side, thankfully he had made sure that it would not overlap with any area that should sink them. What he did hope was that he could sink the other ship or cause enough damage that they would have to switch their attentions. It was a nice deterrent from the wyverns as well as halting any casting as the enemy mages quickly tried to erect shields to at least lessen their own damage.
There was a side effect to this spell however, it was a huge cost. Not only the casting time required but the mana consumption as well. He could only cast it maybe twice, and that was if he didn't use any other magic. He would not be able to cast this again without rest, and any further spells he used would have to be carefully chosen and restricted unless there was time for exchanges.]
