With the barrier down, Bolin bats one soldier off the ship before turning sharply on his heel to knock another with his staff, cornering him toward the edge of the ship in quick, successive steps to push them off the ship as well. It almost seems to easy, and the earthbender inhales a relieved breath, the mana fatigue still weary in his bones, though the adrenaline keeps his body moving.
But there's no time to relax, it's obvious that the enemy was waiting just for the second that the barrier would go down, mages cross waters and air with magic. The weather is too stormy for some of them to bridge the gap, especially with the ship moving again, but one mage manages to board, riding on determined winds, dropping in from high above right toward Jae-ha.
Bolin crosses the distance as soon as he notices, cursing once again his lack of earthbending (having to fight close range is a pain), hoping that he can at least shield the other man from an assault—
