[In complete fairness, Gilgamesh was, pretty much, the worst. The worst of the worst, even. Someone selfish, someone tyrannical, someone who always put himself ahead of others. Someone who would strike down the innocent, insult women, and overall act the fool as much as it suited him. Gilgamesh was not known in legends for being kind; it was for being cruel, and in all the ways Setsuna would despise.

And Gilgamesh told him so. Setsuna heard the story. Even for the sake of their younger audience, Gilgamesh made no attempt to hide his wicked side. Yet still he embraced him. He had not turned away. He had not judged him in disgust. For this reason, and because of what transpired in the dungeon—even before, with the flower—Gilgamesh remains with him. Setsuna had believed in him, so Gilgamesh had in turn extended his own faith, as hard as it was to come by.

He wants to smile. Gilgamesh can see that. He just needs an extra push to get there.]


Very well.

[Gilgamesh answers the question that had not been asked. He holds Setsuna's face too, in both hands, and leans forward. To each cheek, he delivers a quick peck of the lips, nothing offensive, even childlike. And at the very end, he stretches Setsuna's mouth into a big smile with his fingers.

Then he smiles, brilliantly, and so instructs him:]
