[In truth, Gilgamesh had chosen her to spare them both, because with Setsuna beside him, there's something to hold—his hand, just barely around the wrist, while turned away from the whole gross affair as Vietnam advised. He's not scared. He's seen gore before. But that doesn't necessarily mean he revels in it, and like Setsuna, he doesn't choose to invest his faith in gods despite being one himself. It's discomforting, yes, but less so with the familiar flow of mana coaxed by skin on skin. His face offers no sign of what he's thinking or feeling, blank as the tablet they read from.

However, once she's finished, he does tell her in all earnestness:]

Thank you.

[He was a tyrant to the root of him, but for being the spared the misery of this task, he's truly appreciative. And as a result of this appreciation, he's the first to offer her a means to clean her hands: a small piece of cloth from his pocket intended for such a purpose. It's a strangely gentlemanly gesture, though Gilgamesh doesn't dwell on it for long. His eyes return to Setsuna, and he nods, decisively.]

Lead on.

[Gilgamesh will follow, with Vietnam in tow, most certainly. Sometimes even a King had to cede the reins of leadership, though this is simply a token of his trust.]
